The One Where Nevada Won

I had to document this last weekend as it was not only a fun weekend, but history was made. If you couldn't tell by the title of this post, Nevada beat Boise in football. This has been years in the making. Nevada hadn't won in Boise since 1997. And Nevada hasn't beaten Boise (at home) since 2010.

About a month ago, we decided to go to Boise for the Nevada versus Boise game. I had never been to Boise, my best friend lives there (for a little over a year now) and a bunch of our Wolf Pack friends were going.

Since we made such late plans, we decided to make the 6 hour drive there. We left Friday morning after dropping the girls off at school. Then we drove 6 hours, checked into our hotel, unpacked a bit and then met our friends downstairs for a bit before heading to dinner at, The Wylder. My friend who lives there recommended it.

We were told there would be a 45 minute to one hour wait. But we lucked out and got a seat at the bar. We ordered drinks and then shared the Buttermilk Market Vegetable Salad, followed by the Mushroom Toast (recommended by the bartenders) and then the Bronco Pizza (salami, burrata and fresno chilis).

Everything was amazing!

Shake Your Coconuts cocktail (basically a Moscow Mule, but with coconut)

The mushroom toast has 5 different kinds of mushrooms and was amazing!

They had an amazing selection of liquor.

We then went back to our hotel and hung out at the bar downstairs with all the Wolf Pack fans and some of the football players.

Saturday morning we got up, got ready and headed out to coffee and a quick bite at The District Coffee. We chatted with a bunch of Boise fans on who was going to win. Then we headed back to our hotel to meet up with our friends. Then we headed down to a bar called Double Tap Pub for drinks with the crew that traveled to Boise for the game.

About an hour before game time, we made our way over to the Albertsons stadium and admired everything along the way. It is a lot like Reno, but cleaner and nicer. Just truly beautiful.

And before we knew it, it was game time. And even though we were up most of the time, it was still very stressful. But we won and it was pretty amazing!
This was right before the game started. The stadium filled up and had the most people ever attend.

Some of the Nevada fans we traveled with. Yes, there were women who came with us too.

And that was the final score! 41 Nevada, 31 Boise

The team celebrating after the big win!

After the game, we went to congratulate the team after their big win before they got on the busses for the airport.

Then we walked back to our hotel, showered, got ready and headed over to The Fork for dinner. We shared some Asparagus Fries and then I had a burger with spiced bacon and local cheddar cheese. It was pretty amazing. Rory had the prime rib special.
Yes, Rory wore his Birks to dinner. He called this Boise style.

Such a nice downtown area. And we had drinks with our friends at the bar on the left (barely can see it).

After dinner, we headed to The Mode for drinks with friends. We stayed there until 11 pm or so and then went back to the hotel with two friends just to chat and hang out for awhile longer.

Sunday morning, we had a lazy morning since we didn't need to check out until 10:30. We got ready and then walked over to the Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery to have brunch with my best friend and her family. Fun fact....Rory and I introduced these two. They got married and have a little one now.

After brunch, we walked around downtown Boise and grabbed a coffee. Then we headed back to our hotel to leave back to Reno. We snapped this photo before leaving.

The drive home was pretty quick other than a low tire pressure warning. But I think Volvo forgot to change the sensor alert at my service a few days before as the tire pressure on all tires was fine.

We got home around 7 pm and the girls got home around 7:15. We spent the evening catching up with my little ladies and prepping for the week ahead.

And that was our fun weekend. How was your weekend?

Weekend Update

I haven't done a weekend update in awhile, so I thought I would today.

Last weekend was special in that it was the first home football game of the season (in 2 years that we could attend) and it was 9/11. But let's back up to Friday.

I work from home every Friday and since I was at home, I took the girls to their before school program. It had rained all night, so the girls got to wear their new rain jackets.

I went home and worked until lunch time and then I headed over to my sister's house to watch my nephew and work from there. We played, he helped me work and got bored of my work and fell asleep. Ha.

Then when work was done, I headed to an acupuncture appointment and then home. I picked up the girls along the way and then we did homework. I had to leave in the middle of homework, so Rory helped them finish. I went to meet up with one of my girlfriends for dinner.

She had a concert to go to, so we kept it short (about 2 hours) and then I headed home for the nighttime routine.

Saturday morning, Rory had a golf tournament to work, so I made the girls pancakes and told them all about 9/11. We watched videos on what happened, listened to news stories and gave them a run down of it in my own words. As we watched videos, the girls noticed that I was crying. I told them even though I wasn't there, it still hurts my heart and is tough to remember it all. It changed things like flying on planes, being able to pick up friends and family at the gates and overall security.

The girls and I put up flags in our yard.

Later, we went to lunch with Rory and did a bit of shopping. I got some new candles from Bath and Body Works and some game day gear. Then we took the girls down to my parents house as we had a tailgate to attend.

We grabbed some chick-fil-a nuggets to take to the tailgate and then hung out there before the Nevada vs Idaho State game.

The game was really packed and it was so nice to be back in the stadium after 2 years.

And we won!

Sunday morning the girls were at my parents house still since the game was over after 11 pm. So I did all the household things. I did 6 loads of laundry including all bedding. I folded it all, put the beds back together, went grocery shopping, packed the girls lunches and cleaned the kitchen. Then we went to my sisters house for dinner and to pick up the girls. We had meatloaf (from the traeger), mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans with almonds. It was so good. And then homemade apple pie that the girls helped my sister make.

Then we headed home to get ready for the week ahead which meant showers and hair drying for the girls since Monday was picture day.

Monday morning I made the girls their leftover pancakes and got them ready for picture day. I even straightened their hair and got them all prettied up. Don't they look so grown up here?

And then I worked the rest of the day. Ha. Oh and made peach pie since we had so many peaches from our peach tree this year.

How was your weekend?

Weekending

It feels like it has been forever since I wrote a weekend post. But I wanted to do one for last weekend to remember our time on the Christmas Lights Train in Virginia City. Since the pandemic, I have been worried about making this holiday season the best. Trying to keep some traditions alive and adding new ones in place of ones that have been cancelled.

See, every year on Christmas Eve we head to my parents best friends house for a Christmas Eve party. But not this year. We are doing a drive by thing to exchange gifts and get some goodies. And we have a Christmas dinner with Rory's aunt and uncle plus family the day after Christmas. But this year it has been cancelled because one of the family members has cancer and is at a higher risk. And I usually host Christmas dinner, but I thought I would have had surgery 3 weeks before and wouldn't be up for it. Plus our Christmas parties were all cancelled too. So things have been weird.

Anyways, I wanted to do some fun things for the girls, so when my fellow twin mom told me about the Christmas Lights train, I tried to buy tickets, but they were all sold out. Thankfully, she called and they were adding another late train ride and we got tickets!

Anyways, onto our weekend. Saturday morning we had bagels, coffee and watched Christmas movies in the morning. Then we headed over to a walking park and the girls brought their bikes to ride while we walked Walter.

After our walk, we headed home for some football and hang out. We had an early dinner of pizza at home and then drove up to Virginia City. When we arrived, we went to will call for our tickets and then waited outside and took some photos. The girls were a bit antsy to get on the train and cold. We did wear our big jackets, have gloves and were prepared, but with the train starting at their bedtime, we knew this was a risk.

Rory and I really enjoyed it. I think Avery enjoyed it more than Sutton because at one point Sutton said she was bored. I think she was just tired. But the crew went above and beyond. We had hot cocoa and hot apple cider at our seats (which were all socially distanced apart) and goodie bags for the girls which included a candy candy light up stick, a candy cane light up bracelet, candy cane Hersey kisses and cookies.

We rode the train for about 30 minutes on the way to Gold Hill seeing light displays and having our train light up to songs that were playing. They read Twas the Night Before Christmas over the loud speaker and then when we got to Gold Hill, we got to see Santa and his elves. He had a microphone and talked to the kids and it was really sweet. That lasted for another 10 minutes and then we headed back to Virginia City. This time going faster. Overall, it was a great experience. We just may try for earlier in the evening next time.

The girls were asleep within a minute or two in the car.

Sunday was a lazy day. We had bagels again for breakfast and watched Christmas movies all morning. Plus we did some laundry and cleaning. After I went grocery shopping, we took Walter on a long walk (over an hour) and the girls again rode their bikes. Then we watched some football, made dinner and watched more Christmas movies. Gotta get in all of our Christmas favorites this week.

The girls are at "camp" today through Wednesday and then Thursday we get ready for the big day. We still have to work all week, so at least this way the girls will have fun and stay busy. Christmas Eve we will be baking cookies, prepping food for Christmas day and enjoying the day to the fullest. What are your plans this week?

Texas and Oklahoma

As you all already know, but I was in Texas for work and then Oklahoma for fun. I had the best time and it was soooo nice to see some friends. But I am back and managed to get a post together of my trip. I couldn't include a lot of what I did as I can't put my work stuff out there, but I did get to have some fun in between work.

I flew into Dallas, Texas and stayed in the Highland Park/University Park area. Why this is important will come later. Anyways, I worked and worked and had fun in the evenings. I even snuck in a little trip to Magnolia Silos at the end of my Texas part of the trip.

So what did I do?
The most delicious black pepper and truffle pasta.

Avocado fries. I could eat these everyday.

I got to FINALLY meet Lynn from Motherhood in Motion. We have been blogging friends for many years. We text often and I was sooo excited to meet her. She was everything I imagined and more. Go follow her blog. Her daughter had a helmet like my girls did, they are the same age, are all in dance class and just have so much in common. Lynn was amazing!

Fort Worth police awaiting Donald Trump's arrival. I was working in Fort Worth when this happened and I got caught up in the chaos for over an hour while this was going down.

Yes, I bought a bunch of stuff here.

What did I end up getting? The Shiplap - vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and it was just as heavenly as I imagined. Soooo good.

I also drove around Waco a bit and saw how the show translates into real life. What I mean is they always profile these No Trespassing houses and they have a ton of them in Waco. I wish I knew where more of the completed houses were because I would like to see those. I also went to the outlet Magnolia store and bought a few items there.

And then I flew to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to see my best friend. She picked me up from the airport and we spent three days together. It was sooo much fun. I got to see her little girl, Charlotte who is 5 months old and I have been dying to meet in real life. We facetime often. We shopped, we went to her husbands office at NOAA and got a tour, we toured Oklahoma's campus, we had a girls night, we cooked, we binged watched shows and just caught up. It was soooo needed and I miss her so much!

This was a sign inside a "club/lounge" we went to on girls night.

Totally missing her and having babies in my life.

It was a fast 7 days, but so amazing and sooo needed.
