Dozers and Dirt and a Gala

Wow, I am still tired after last weekend. But it sure was a great weekend. Let me back up to Friday.

I worked Friday half day and then got my hair done. It felt so good moving up my extensions and coloring my roots. Even though my hairstylist said that roots are now in. After getting my hair done, I went to Trader Joes which was a huge disappointment. They did not have the mini cones, maple kettle corn, or cinnamon roll spread. Such a bummer. But I did get some chocolate hummus which was sooo good.

After dropping off my TJ's haul, I headed out in search of some shoes for the gala. I went to three stores and no luck. Then I headed down to Dillards and tried on dresses and shoes. I sent Rory some pics and he told me to just go with the shoes. So I did. Though I regret not getting the dress instead as I should have had my dress altered to fit better. BUT I did get a ton of compliments on it at the gala.

After shopping, I headed home to go out to dinner with Rory and the girls. Then we caught up on some tv shows and went to bed.

Saturday morning we got up, got ready and headed to Dozers and Dirt. It is exactly what it sounds like....bulldozers (and other machines/equipment) and dirt and it was to benefit the children's cancer foundation here (locally).

It was really cool. We first went and walked through fire trucks, helicopters, police cars, an ambulance, etc. and then we made our way to the equipment. Basically, the kids can drive tractors, bulldozers, front loaders, scissor lifts, etc. with the help of crew men. Adults were able to go on some things with the kids, but we mostly just watched, took photos and videos. Check out some of our fun time!

We were served lunch, got some grab bags and so much water. It was a hot day.

Then we headed home for some coffee, relaxing and getting ready for the gala. Us, not the girls. They stayed home with my parents.

Then it was time for the gala. We ubered over to the casino where it was held and met up with the Bay Equity crew. We had some drinks, caught up and then went into the gala where we had appetizers, walked around the silent auction, looked at items for the live auction later and found our table. The event was to give back and raise money for our local Big Brothers Big Sisters. And that is what we did.

We ate good food, drank some wine, had an auction, danced the night away and had a great time. Tears were shed during the touching presentations and lots of money was made.

It was an overall amazing night.

We went home just after 11 pm and were exhausted. But it was an amazing night and whole day!

Sunday was spent making breakfast, packing lunches for school, picking out outfits for Monday (for me and the girls), doing 5 loads of laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning three bathrooms, watching football and making dinner.

Overall, it was a very fun weekend! How was your weekend?

Birthday Weekend Update

Happy Wednesday all! I have a birthday weekend update and I am announcing the winner of the Free Country jacket and joggers.

And the winner is: Caroline from Dramatic in the Best Way.

Congrats!

Friday we took off to Elko to take the girls to their grandparents house for a fun week before school starts. We left after grabbing some breakfast and made the four and a half hour drive easily. When we got into town, the storms were coming in.

After getting settled in, we hung out and then headed to dinner. We went to a famous basque restaurant and enjoyed so much food. Basque is served family style. Meaning that the fries, pasta dish, veggie dish, salad, soup are all served family style. Then you each get an entree. I chose lobster and it was huge!!! And of course we had to have a picon. It is a basque drink and they are good but potent.

After dinner, we headed back to my in-laws house. It was raining pretty good at the time and it was so welcomed. We haven't had much rain in the last month.

Saturday morning we got up and had a big breakfast. We did some stuff around the house and then headed out for some coffee, visiting Rory's families graves, a trip to the Elko museum and then a drive around Elko to see where Rory's dad grew up.

By the time we were done, we headed back to the house instead of the park since the storms rolled in again. We had lasagna with all the yummy sides and just hung out at the house. Rory and the girls took Walter on a walk while I read more of my book, The Wife Upstairs.

Sunday we slept in, had another big breakfast and then did some stuff around the house to help out before we left. Then around noon, Rory and I headed home with Walter. We got home around 5 pm and after unpacking, we headed out to Chinese food. Then we caught up on shows that we can't watch with the girls.

Monday was my actual birthday and I had to work. Boo. But fortunately, I only worked in the office for a few hours and then worked from home for the rest of the day. But my sweet co-workers brought me in this huge donut to share.

I spent the day working and getting lots of sweet calls from friends and family. After work, Rory took me to dinner at La Familia for the best Italian food. I got this truffle mushroom pasta dish that was heavenly. And we shared a burrata appetizer and a grilled artichoke appetizer. And then they brought me out some tiramisu for dessert with a sparkler in it!
Received this picture of my nephew wishing me a happy birthday!

Doesn't this look heavenly? It was so good.

Yes this is from my husband's instagram. I didn't get copies of the photo.

And there you have it. My birthday weekend. Hopefully 38 will be a good year!

Weekend Rewind

It has been awhile since I did a weekend update, and since we had a very busy weekend, I thought I would do one today.

I worked a half day Friday and then got my nails done. Then I picked up the girls, brought them home and then my dad picked them up. They were having an overnight at my parents house which they were sooo excited for.

After the girls left, I caught up on a show and then got ready to go to our friends house to meet up before the Reno Aces game. The Reno Aces are our Triple A baseball team. We headed over to Rory's new office to park, have some pizza and then head into the game. The Aces blew the Isotopes out!

Fireworks after the game!

After the game, we headed over to the Chapel and enjoyed some cocktails and an evening away from the kids (both us and our friends were kid free for the evening). We got home around 12:45 which was late, but we had a great time out.

We got up at 8 am to get ready because we had my cousin's high school graduation party to attend. He graduated a few weeks ago, and he is off to the Navy at the beginning of July. So we were celebrating those and his birthday.

I got to see so much family on my mom's side and it just had been way too long. I am so thankful to see some of my great aunts whom I haven't seen in years.

Around 2:30, we headed back home (we had an hour and a half drive) to get ready for the Rodeo. Rory took a nap, the girls watched a show and I read my book. Then we got ready, went to dinner at a local Mexican place (so good) and then went to the Rodeo. This was the girls first time going and they loved it. They were so concerned with the cows and some of the events. And they LOVED the Rodeo Queen.

It was hot, but it was so much fun!

Yes the girls got some cowgirl hats that they can't wait to wear horseback riding.

We ended our night at 10:30 and the girls were exhausted.

Sunday morning was Father's Day and we got up, got ready and headed to golf for the girls. They are part of this First Tee program here where they have 9 lessons for $65 (total). Such a killer deal and the girls LOVE it.

After golf, we headed to brunch which was out on the river and so beautiful. Rory snapped a photo, but I have yet to get it.

Then after brunch, we headed home, changed, packed our cooler and headed to Lake Tahoe. We went to a new beach (I have been there a few times before) and enjoyed the sunshine and got away from the 100 degree temperatures in Reno.

We called my dad while at the beach and he was having a great day himself. Just as we were.

We stayed at the beach until 5 pm and then headed back down into town (not Reno) for dinner at the Union and enjoyed pasta, pizza (the girls), roasted cauliflower and a delicious kale salad.

Then we headed home to take showers, get ready for the week ahead and walk Walter. Oh and give Rory his gift, since we were out of the house most of the day. He loved his pressure washer and asked if I got advice on it from his co-worker, but I thought of it all on my own.

How was your weekend?
