Girl Chat - Easter Traditions

It's time for a little Girl Chat and this month we are talking about our Easter traditions. My Easter traditions have changed over the years, especially now that I have children myself.

When I was a child, we would go to my grandma's house about a week or so before Easter and we would color eggs with my aunts and their children (my cousins). We had so much fun decorating eggs and seeing how others colored their eggs. After we were finished, we would gather our eggs (about a dozen each) and head home.

A week later, Easter morning arrived and we would wake up and search the house (inside and out) for Easter eggs. Sometimes along the way, we would see our Easter baskets, but as we got older, it was harder and harder to find the basket. Once we found all of the eggs and our baskets, we would go through everything. I loved the thought that went into our baskets. There was always our favorite candy, something that we had been really wanting and things that we were into at the moment.

We usually had breakfast at home and would get in our prettiest dresses and head back out to my grandmother's house for another Easter egg hunt and dinner. It was always the tradition.

As we got older, the egg hunting stopped, but my mom and dad would gift us with a basket each year. We would still do an Easter egg hunt at the families house before dinner.

Now that I am married with children, we have done the previous two Easter's with my family, but this year we are spending it with my in-laws.

If we were doing it with my family, we would head to my aunt's house and have a big Easter egg hunt after everyone got there. These eggs are plastic and filled with money, candy and other prizes (massages, wine, etc.). This gets us older cousins out there hunting for eggs with our kids and younger cousins. Then we would have a big dinner.

This year we plan to do an Easter egg hunt inside our house when the girls get up and let them find their Easter baskets. Then we will go to my in-laws house after the girls' naps and hang out over there. I am not sure what my mother-in-law has planned, but we are always up for new traditions. Plus my sweet nephew will be there and I am aching to see my girls and him play and search for eggs together.

What are your Easter traditions?
