Halloween Weekend

I feel like I am still recovering from Halloween weekend. We were on the go most of the weekend and out late each night that this week has been nothing but relaxing after work. But it was so much fun and many memories were made.

Our Halloween weekend started on Thursday night. I attended a mixer for Rory's work. We had to dress up and since I didn't want to dirty up my Halloween costume at a bar, I wore one from year's past. I wore my Snooki costume and Rory wore his Miners/Old Timers costume.

I wish I would have gotten more photos of this bar. They went all out on decorations.

My sister and brother-in-law watched the girls that evening.

Friday was Nevada Day (observed) so we didn't work. Well, I didn't. Rory did some work. We just did things around the house, let the girls do some school work on their computers and then went to lunch. Then around 3 pm, we headed out for the tailgate for the Nevada vs. UNLV game. It was the girls second game of the season and they had a blast. We had bbq food from a local restaurant that catered the tailgate. The girls played some games and then we watched Nevada BEAT UNLV and keep the Fremont Cannon. The girls and I left in the third quarter as it was getting late. Rory stayed and watched the whole game. But I finished the game at home in my pjs cuddling my pup.

Saturday morning we got up, had some coffee and coffee cake and then ran errands. We also took Walter on a long walk and enjoyed the changing leaves.

Then we got ready for the Halloween party that we attended. And this took hours because I had to get myself showered and ready and also get the girls showered and ready. But we all looked cute and had the best time. Here are some highlights from that evening.

Sunday we got up and went to breakfast to get us started for the day. We haven't been out to breakfast in awhile, but we made a point to get out on Sunday. Then we came home and took Walter to the groomers. Then while we waited for Walter, Rory mowed the lawn and I washed and cleaned my car. It hadn't been done since before we went to Boise and it was in need of a good wash.

We picked up Walter after we were both done with house chores and came home to get ready for trick or treating. We first went up to see my father-in-law to see how he is recovering and for them to see the girls before they went out trick or treating. Then we headed over to our friends house for dinner and trick or treating. Going with about 14 kids and adults was the way to go. Everyone had such a fun time. Here are some highlights from that evening.

Everything else I captured was videos. I uploaded those on my stories on Sunday night and Monday. Such a great time was had. What did you do for Halloween?

Halloween Party Food Ideas

We are going to a Halloween party the day before Halloween. Our friends throw one every year and it is a family party. They do prizes for the best costume, the best family costume, the scariest costume and so on. We all have so much fun going each year.

And they always ask if everyone could bring something to share. Last year, I bought these Chocolate Covered Strawberries that looked like ghosts.

And since I am looking for inspiration for this year's party, I thought I would share what I found. Hopefully this helps you out if you are throwing a party or have one to attend.

Kids Halloween Pajamas

Halloween is just about a month away. We have our costumes in hand (and they all fit) and we put up some of our Halloween decorations this last weekend.

I was in Target grabbing a few items that we needed for the house and I stopped by the Halloween section (which is finally up). I saw the cutest pajamas and that made me want to grab some for the girls. I didn't buy any from Target, but I did stop at Carter's and Gap and found some cute ones as well.

I know it is a bit much to buy new pajamas for each bigger holiday, but my girls enjoy them and when you get them on sale, it is even better.

I thought I would share some cute Halloween pajamas with you all. Just in case you want to get some for your kids.

Also, just wanted to remind you that Christmas is 89 days away. So crazy. I need to start my Christmas shopping now, so I can spread the bank account drain over a couple months.

Can you believe that we are approaching the holidays? I can't!

Have a good week!

Can you believe that Halloween is a little over a month away? I can't. BUT I have started shopping for our Halloween costumes. We are going to a friends house for a Halloween party on the 30th and needed to start searching for our family costumes. Last year we were characters from Toy Story and this year we will be....

PRINCESSES AND PRINCE CHARMING. I have already ordered our costumes and we have been trying them on to make sure we have the right fit. Here is our costume inspiration.

Our Halloween Costumes

We were invited to a Halloween party this year and since things are still weird and crazy with Covid, we thought it would be a better idea to go to the small party than trick or treating. Plus the kids can trick or treat in this gated community.

BUT we needed costumes. Now Rory isn't one to dress up. Like at all. But every so often I can get him to. I told him to think of a group idea and he didn't give me one, so I searched the internet and found a few. I had ideas of being superheroes, but the hosts are being superheroes. Then I thought about Rory being Prince Charming and us girls being princesses. Finally, we decided on Toy Story.

Sutton is going to be Bo Peep, but she didn't want the pants costume. It had to be a dress, so we are going back to the first movie.

Avery has decided to be Jessie, but she also wanted a dress version of the outfit.

I thought about being Buzz Lightyear, but Rory said that it is a boys costume. Psh. So I decided to be Barbie from the 4th movie.
Barbie Leotard

Rainbow Leg Warmers

And finally Rory will be Ken. He went back and forth between Woody, Buzz and Ken. Ultimately, he wanted to match me. So Rory will wear this shirt and pair it with some blue shorts that he already has and loafers.

This is the look him and I are going for.

What are you guys doing for Halloween? Will you dress up? Will it be a family costume?

Halloween Attire

We are getting closer to Halloween and that means fun festive clothes. I know my kids like to wear Halloween gear leading up to Halloween and sometimes the day of (to save their costumes for later), and I thought I would share some items now because last year they were all sold out a week or so before Halloween. I have included mostly girls stuff and a few things for moms/women.

Halloween Attire

Orange Kids Sweater - This first outfit is probably the one my girls would chose right away. This sweater just looks so cozy!

Kids Orange Sparkly Skirt - This skirt is something my girls pick right away. Anything with sparkles and tulle is right up their alley. Pretty much like their mama. Plus you could wear this skirt for Thanksgiving dinner as well.

Kids Glow in the Dark Halloween Long Sleeve - This shirt glows in the dark and is so festive.

Women's Squad Tee - I love Hocus Pocus and most people do too. This shirt was quickly added to my shopping cart.

Kids Halloween Dress - This dress has been seen everywhere. I know Lindsay's daughter loves it.

Kids Cat Pants - These pants I had in mind to go with the dress above since it gets chilly in late October here in Nevada. The girls had similar ones for Valentine's Day which had hearts at the knees and were red.

Women's Bat Sweater - This sweater doesn't have any reviews, but it looked really cute.

Kids Black Tulle Skirt - This is another skirt my girls would want in their wardrobe. It is fun, festive and prefect for Fall.

What will your kids and you be wearing for Halloween week/day?

Halloween 2019

I gave you all a sneak peak of the girls Halloween last Friday, but I wanted to share more. I am doing it now since I didn't have time to write it after the girls went to bed on Thursday night and with home renovations, I just hadn't had the time to write it until now. But it deserves its own post because DUH, cuteness overload!

My girls have been looking forward to Halloween since last Halloween. They have prepped all month long. I thought for sure they would want to be something from Toy Story as it is their favorite movie right now. But nope, they went with Frozen. They are pretty pumped for the second movie to come out this month. I am even excited for it.

The girls chose to be Elsa and Anna. I was sure they would fight over who was going to be which sister, but they did not. Sutton chose Elsa and Avery chose Anna.

Our Halloween had a bit of drama in it, but nothing too bad.

My FIL called to order pizzas around 4:30 and they said they had 75 pizzas ahead of us, so we didn't end up ordering from this pizza shop as it would take way too long. We called another favorite of ours and they said it would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes. We had to make our way there, so we asked for 20 minutes. We grabbed the pizza while my in-laws picked up the girls.

Then we had pizza and while we were eating, I got texts asking to authorize transactions on my credit card. They were not mine and were done in Texas stores all over, so someone had stolen my card. I had to call my bank and order a new card. I was doing this when I was supposed to be getting the girls ready for trick or treating.

We had set out a bowl of candy and a sign saying to take 3 pieces each. Well within 5 minutes, some older kids around 17 years old, tried to steal the whole bowl. But Rory saw it go down and ran after them. He gave them a talking to saying he did that when he was a kid, but it wasn't right. It was for the younger kids and they were ruining it for them. The guys apologized and were almost in tears. Rory said to keep 7 pieces and give him the rest back. And then they drove off.

We were sure they were going to come back and steal it again or egg our house, but they didn't. They were scared after the talking to. We think they were high school students coming from practice and realized what they did was wrong.

Then we got the girls ready, took some photos and headed out.
Avery was so pumped to be Anna!

Look at how adorable Sutton is as Elsa! Notice our awful carpet in the background? That is going away very soon!!!

And then we took photos outside.

We trick or treated for about an hour and a half.

Even Walter dressed up for the occasion!! He was a hot dog!

The girls got cold and tired. Luckily, we brought the wagon and were able to let them ride on the way home. Once we were home, it was very apparent that they were tired. Small meltdowns ensued, but we got them ready for bed and Rory even hung out in their room until they fell asleep. I had many things to get done around the house. We gave out all of our candy except a few pieces. I call it a win! And that is a wrap on our 2019 Halloween!

Halloween Shirts for Everyone in the Family

If you are like me then you don't want your kids to wear their Halloween costumes to school for fear that they will get torn, stained, missing pieces or broken. If I have extra princess dresses or a costume from last year that fits, I send them in that. Otherwise, you are left without a costume or something fun to wear. So when I don't have an extra costume, I put my kids in Halloween shirts. My girls are totally fine with wearing a Halloween shirt with the promise of wearing their costumes after school. That may change when they are in school next year, but for now, this works.

I like to wear something festive on Halloween as well. Plus, they usually let us dress casually that week, so any of the women's shirts would work except the off the shoulder one.
