Our 9th Wedding Anniersary

I can't believe that Rory and I have been married for 9 years today. And it makes me a bit sad to think that it is my doing that we are not spending the day together. I am in Colorado for work and I couldn't really help it. Funny thing about this? I was telling Rory that I would be gone for our anniversary and the girls first day of school. Well I was there in the morning for the first day of school, but not today for our anniversary. He was disappointed and said, "you know if it was me and I wasn't there for our anniversary, you wouldn't be happy". And he is right. I wouldn't be. I wouldn't be ok with it. BUT this work trip couldn't happen at any other time due to working with 6 others. It is hard to coordinate that many schedules.

So here I am in Colorado and he is in Nevada. But we did get to celebrate together this last weekend in California for a cousins wedding and we plan to go to dinner this upcoming weekend.

But I thought it would be fun to share some photos of us in our early days of dating. I always love when others show throwback photos from their marriage, so I am doing that today.

Eighth Wedding Anniversary

Yesterday was my 8th wedding anniversary. And this last year has just been so crazy. Last August we were still in the thick of quarantine (at least for me working from home), but we did manage to get a night out together for dinner. This year, we had massages at home (previously gifted to us by my in-laws) and take out. And we both had to work all day. Boo. But that is life and this Saturday we have a kid free night and a wedding to attend, so maybe we can celebrate again that evening!

The last 8 years (12 years in December for dating) have been amazing. We have traveled to Costa Rica, Mexico and all over the United States. We adopted a pup. We had identical twin girls. You changed careers. And we have grown a lot. I wouldn't change a thing. And I can't wait to share the next hundred with you.

Happy Anniversary Rory!

Here are some snapshots over the last year!

My 4th Wedding Anniversary

So instead of writing my thoughts and confessions today, I am writing about my anniversary. Today marks 4 years that Rory and I have been married. How crazy is that? Sure it isn't the 34 years that my parents have been married, but we are working our way towards that.

Rory and I have been together for about 7 1/2 years and married for four. We met at work, fell in love, adopted a dog, got married, had twins and the rest is history. That is the summed up version of us.

August 17, 2014, was a magical day. I had spent months planning the day. I spent countless hours crafting and trying to get a "Pinterest" perfect wedding. It was a perfect day to us, but it did have its bumps along the way. Nothing that we did, but we had the worst coordinator. Word of advice, hire a coordinator outside of the venue. We did not and I regret that. Otherwise, it was perfect, but I will let the pictures do the talking.

We said our beautiful vows in front of our closest family and friends. We danced the night away. We took so many photos in the photobooth. We enjoyed champagne. We cried during the toasts. We had a sparkler exit. But we had the best day EVER.

Happy Anniversary Rory!

A Tribute to my Husband

In honor of my anniversary (tomorrow), I wanted to share some (of the thousands) of the things that make my husband the incredible man that he is.

One. Back before we started dating, we were just friends. I was going through a rough patch in life and Rory was the friend that I needed and never expected to have. I had some cancerous cells brewing in my cervix and had to have two surgeries to have them removed. There were talks of the possibility of never having children and what we would need to do if we couldn't get it cut out. I was an emotional wreck at work and in life. Rory was the shoulder that I needed. The friend to vent to....even the gruesome details.

A friend like that is hard to come by. Let alone a lifelong partner.
One of our first photos together

Two. Rory loves football almost as much as he loves me. Maybe even more. Ha. Before dating Rory, we (my coworkers and I) always gave Rory a hard time about how passionate he was about football. He will record a college game that he has seen in person and watch it several times because there is always something he missed. College football is like a movie he can watch over and over again. He was so passionate about defending Coach Ault (who created the pistol formation that is used in the NFL) and the Nevada Wolf Pack. He has gotten in twitter wars over it. Yes my husband is that guy and I love it about him.
We had to have a picture of the Wolf Pack flag at our wedding. And our wedding colors are silver and blue which happen to be Nevada Wolf Pack colors.

Three. Rory is so passionate about the things he believes in. He will fight til the end for what he believes in. He has been teaching me to be more like that. No one is going to defend and stand up for our girls right now except us and feelings aside, I need to fight for them.

Four. The goofy songs he makes up about me, the girls and more often than not, Walter. Yes, we are that couple that sings songs about the loves in our lives. Rory comes up with the best songs too.

Five. Rory is the best dancer. Seriously. The best. He can out dance most people and I absolutely love it. At least one of us can dance. As a child, Rory was big into hip hop and break dancing. I love when his mom busts out photos of him busting his moves as a child.
Rory and two of his groomsmen break dancing at our wedding.

Six. He helped me create the most beautiful and intelligent baby girls. Did you know that identical twins are not genetic? Identical twins come from the males gene as it is the sperm that determines if the egg splits. Fraternal twins run on my side of the family, but the girls were all due to my husband.

Seven. And speaking of babies, he is an amazing father to our girls. He changes their diapers without a second thought, he gets them dressed almost every morning and he loves those girls more than he loves anything in this world. He is incredible.

Eight. He is so intelligent. He may be a procrastinator, but he can articulate his thoughts so well. Whenever I am at a loss for words (which doesn't happen often), he knows just what to say and how to say it so well. He is not only book smart, but street smart. He is the whole smarty pants package.

Nine. He is very athletic and is always keeping me on my toes. We have taken more hikes than I can count. We get a snowboarding pass every year and he is always encouraging me to go to the gym when I don't want to. He loves yoga, but plays a pretty mean game of basketball. He is very active. Sometimes too active. Ha.

Ten. My studly husband's doppelgangers are a mix of Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith. He has even mistaken for them. I got lucky in the handsome department.

I could go on and on because I won the lottery with this one.

So happy Anniversary to my partner in crime, my best friend, my companion, my travel buddy, my love, my baby daddy and the love of my life. You complete me.

2nd Anniversary

Monday was our anniversary as I mentioned before and we had a great little date night. After my sister arrived to watch the girls, we headed downtown to a wine bar. We each had a glass (wine for me, red for hubby) and great conversation.

We had dinner reservations at Campo (one of our favorite Reno restaurants) sans babies. Whenever we go to a date night dinner, we indulge in everything. We have the time (no screaming babies around) and a huge appetite. We started off with wood fired cauliflower and a fritto misto plate. Sorry no pictures, but it was really good.

Then we moved onto our entrees. I got the special rigatoni of the day (hearty bolognese) and my husband got the black and white spaghetti (chorizo, prawns, peppers, bread crumbs on regular and squid ink spaghetti). All pasta is homemade and you can definitely tell that it is. So good.

It was a lot of food, but we managed to finish it all. Plus a bottle of wine.

Then it was time for dessert because you must have dessert on your anniversary. My husband opted for gelato and I got my favorite dessert of ALL TIME. Carmel Budino. Best thing ever. I could eat this everyday for the rest of my life. It is that good.
Chocolate waffer cookie, salted caramel, vanilla pudding and whipped cream. HEAVEN!
Not a very good picture of me, but I was happy to have this dessert and an evening out with my husband

We were so stuffed from dinner that we headed home to catch up with my sister (well I did, hubby slept on the couch while we caught up) and watch a little Bachelor in Paradise. My how times have changed. Last year we were in San Francisco for our anniversary. I may have been pregnant with twins but we ran all over that city.

Here is to another 50 plus years with my babe! Love you Mr. Butler.

Weekending and My Anniversary

It's Monday again, but this Monday is special because it is my 2nd wedding anniversary. I can't believe how fast two years went. We have traveled a lot (but still have so many places to visit), got pregnant with twins, had a crazy pregnancy, delivered our baby girls early, had surgery three times and now are crazy busy raising our girls and our pup. There is no one I would rather be on this journey with than you my handsome husband. I love you! Happy Anniversary!

This weekend was another busy one. I ran a bunch of errands for the wedding I am in this upcoming weekend. My dress finally fits, now to get it steamed. I also received my shoes in the mail and they fit. Win.

I did a clay canvas class with my mom, sister, aunt and friends. It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to go back and paint so many more things. You can bring in wine and food and hang out as long as you want. You paint any ceramic piece however you like and then a week later you pick it up after it has been glazed. I can't wait to see my finished product. I did a fun little new trick there. Stay tuned for pictures.

Sunday we went to the beach (Hidden Beach, Lake Tahoe) again. See I told you I would try to go as much as I can before the end of summer. This time we left the ladies at home. Alone. Just kidding. My in-laws watched the girls for us so we could take our pup and have a day with him. He loved it.

I worked on my tan, got some much need relaxation time and cuddles with my little dude. Sunday night we ordered in pizza, bathed the girls, took their helmets off one last time and watched some Bachelor in Paradise.

Too bad we didn't sleep well last night. The girls weren't too sure how to react to their helmets coming off so they woke up about once an hour between the two of them. Let's hope each subsequent night goes better. But I am so happy the helmets are off. Now we can see their precious heads all the time, see how much their hair has grown in, cuddle them easier and kiss their sweet heads. This momma is happy. I think the girls are too. They can't stop rubbing their heads haha.

Here is to a super busy week ahead. Wish me luck and see you on the flip side.
