I read one book last month. I don't know what it is, but I am slacking in the book reading department. I love reading, but I just never sat down to read and when I did, I didn't read much. So I didn't read anything in February, but I managed to read one book in March. And I am still on my first book for April. Ha.

So what did I read last month?

Have You Seen Me? - Kate White
Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Suspense
Rating: 3 1/2 to 4 stars (rounded up to 4 stars)

Have You Seen Me? - Kate White

Ally is a financial journalist who finds herself in the ER and can't remember anything. She figures out that she is married and was last at her job, but she seems to be suffering from amnesia. She can remember things before the missing two days, but not those two days. She finds some bloody tissues in her coat and wonders what happen. Did she witness something? Did she do something wrong?

Ally also witnessed a tragic situation when she was younger and she thinks it may have affected her those two days that she can't remember.

I enjoyed this book, though it was a little slow. It started off with a bang, but then slowed down a bit. You often wonder if Ally had something to do with the little girl who was killed when Ally was young. And it is even more likely given she found some tissues in her pocket with blood on them. The book has some good twists, but it ends very abruptly. It has a conclusion, but I felt it could have given more. Though the story as a whole was good.

I would give this book 3 1/2 stars, rounded up to 4.

Here is Amazon's synopsis:

The key to her missing memories could bring relief—or unlock her worst nightmares.

On a cold, rainy morning, finance journalist Ally Linden arrives soaked to the bone at her Manhattan office, only to find that she’s forgotten her keycard. When her boss shows, he’s shocked to see her—because, he explains, she hasn’t worked there in five years.

Ally knows her name, but is having trouble coming up with much beyond that, though after a trip to the psychiatric ER, she begins to piece together important facts: she lives on the Upper West Side; she’s now a freelance journalist; she’s married to a terrific man named Hugh. More memories materialize and yet she still can’t recall anything about the previous two days. Diagnosed as having experienced a dissociative state, she starts to wonder if it may have been triggered by something she saw. Could she have witnessed an accident—or worse—had something happened to her?

Desperate for answers, Ally tries to track where she spent the missing days, but every detail she unearths points to an explanation that’s increasingly ominous, and it’s clear someone wants to prevent her from learning where those forty-eight hours went. In order to uncover the truth, Ally must dig deep into the secrets of her past—and outsmart the person who seems determined to silence her.

  6. Sometimes life is just too busy. I didn't finish a book in March and now I am trying to finish one for the end of April. The one I started at the end of March was so terrible I decided not to continue even though I got half way through. The one I am currently reading, Four Winds by Kristin Hannah is very good and also I've been learning a lot about the impact of the Dirty 30s to Texas and the Plains farmers, so intresting.

    1. I have heard nothing but good things about Four Winds. I have been wanting to read it as well. And sometimes I don't finish a book because I can't get into it. I feel your pain.
