Happy Friday all! It has been a week. It was mostly good, but I am just thankful to be into the weekend.
Onto Friday Favorites and Happenings.
ONE. Last week I was influenced by Lindsay and I bought an artificial tree. We always go out and cut down our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and we still plan to do that this year. BUT we also bought an artificial pencil tree to put up in our dining room. This makes three trees in our house. One in the living room (real), one in the dining room and one mini tree (2 feet) in the girls room.
After my grandma passed away last week, Rory told me that I should put something Christmas up each week. And to start it off, do something big. He said if decorating early brings me joy, then I should do it. We could all use a little more joy this year. And so I put up our new artificial tree.
On Wednesday I headed to Hobby Lobby to buy some decorations for it as I leave all of our keepsake ornaments for our real tree. I still need a tree skirt and a tree topper, but I think it looks great so far!
And this tree is still on sale and an even better deal than I got it for. Right now you can get it for $39.99 and save $70. Totally worth it!
TWO. Last weekend we headed over to my SIL's house for an early Thanksgiving with Rory's moms side of the family. We finally got to see their new house and spend some time with family. And while we were there, Sutton lost her second top front tooth. She had lost her other one just the week before.
THREE. A month or two ago, I told you all about a deal at Target on Living Proof Dry Shampoo. Well it is still going and I ordered another two bottles of my favorite dry shampoo. Even though I didn't need them yet, I wanted to stock up before the price goes up again. Normally you get the 4 oz. for $25, but you can get the 4 oz. at Target for $14.39 plus an additional 5% off if you are a Target Circle (or Red Card) member. So worth it. I now have 4 bottles stocked up at home.
FOUR. Last week several of my blogging friends posted Schitt's Creek inspired gifts and purchases. Well some of those caught my eye and I bought myself an ugly Christmas sweater featuring Schitt's Creek. This is the one I chose.
FIVE. Weekly funnies.
Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry about your grandma! I know it’s been a tough week! We definitely needed those funnies and I hope you get some rest this weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt really has been a tough week, but we are surviving. I have my good and bad times. It is hard. Thank you. I hope you have a great weekend too!

DeleteHope you continue to enjoy the Christmas things!
ReplyDeleteThank you. We definitely will be.
DeleteOh Danielle, I just love your tree! I'm so glad that you're going ahead with your Christmas decorating... y'all deserve some cheer! I've been thinking of you guys. And girl, that Schitt's Creek Christmas sweatshirt! YES PLEASE! I'm totally adding that to my wish list!
ReplyDeleteThank you. This is the first one up and our big one will go up after Thanksgiving. But I will be decorating the rest of the house as the weeks go on. I just may buy another tree to add even more cheer! Thank you for thinking of us. I have good and bad days for sure. It is tough. It is a good sweatshirt. I love that show so much!
DeleteWe'll also be cutting our tree Thanksgiving weekend. We let the boys do a fake one in their playroom. Yours looks great! A lost his top teeth over the summer and it's amazing how much it transforms them into looking like big kids. I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey really do start to look like big kids as they lose their teeth. You are so right. I love the tradition of cutting down a tree after Thanksgiving. I hope you have a great weekend too!
DeleteWhat a great suggestion by Rory! I'm glad you could find a glimmer of joy in putting a tree up and hope the weekly decorating gets you in the spirit. So sorry, again, for your loss. I swear - memes are one of the only things getting me through 2020, haha. Have a good weekend! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteIt has definitely helped. I am having a hard time, but getting by. One day I am good and the next I cry a lot. It just sucks. But we will move on and survive. I just hope this year gets easier. We all need it. I love the memes too. I need the laughs. Have a great weekend too!

ReplyDeleteYes. For once, he is right? Ha. But really. It has helped bring joy that is needed.

DeleteThe putting up the Christmas tree pic made me giggle - yes! I think after this year we need the joy that Christmas brings. My husband refuses to decorate before the traditional 1st December so I am just counting down the days - while I've tried not to buy too much this year I bought a lot of decorations in the post Christmas sales last year and I'm looking forward to using them for the first time this year! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a great weekend :) It's a hot one here!

Oh I never buy the post Christmas sales even though I say I will. I need to do that this year to get some yard decorations. I usually have to wait too, but this year he let me do it early. Just a bit of decorations though.
