Anyone else feel like they lost their motivation this week? I only did two blog posts counting this one. I started one for the books I have been quickly reading, but other than that, the motivation just wasn't there.
We survived another week in quarantine! That makes 9 for us. Last Saturday some of our businesses were able to open up. Restaurants could now offer dine in, but only at 50% capacity. Hair and nail salons were allowed to open up and a few other things opened up. Some restaurants have chosen to stick with curbside pick up and others opened. We are officially in Phase 1 and I am hoping that parks and more outdoor stuff opens up in Phase 2. Along with spa services. I am dying to get a facial and botox. Ha. But I do have a hair appointment today and I couldn't be happier.
Onto Friday Favorites and Happenings.
ONE. During this quarantine, we have tried a lot of new recipes. This week we tried two, Lemon Butter Cheese Ravioli with Garlic Basil Breadcrumbs and Coconut Lime Shrimp. Both were good, but we will definitely be making the Coconut Lime Shrimp one each week. The flavors are amazing. We paired it with brown rice, so you get all the yummy sauce soaked on the rice. It suggests to pair it with roasted broccoli as well, but we did not. Here is how mine looked.
TWO. Mother's Day looked quite different this year. Things were sort of open restaurant wise, but we just were not sure what to do. Saturday evening, Rory, my FIL and my BIL cooked all of us steaks, baked potatoes and grilled asparagus. Then we had carrot cake for dessert. They planned to get brunch take-out, but everything was so backed up that they just went to the store and got things to make. We had bagels, eggs, bacon, fruit and lattes. It was pretty amazing.
I tried to go shopping later in the day to get away for a bit, but none of the stores were open to shop inside, even though they are allowed to. So I headed home, popped some sparkling wine and hung out. Then we went OUT for dinner. I haven't had a good burger in what seems like forever (though the ones we make at home have been pretty good!), so we went to a local upscale burger joint and then got take-out frozen yogurt. It was the perfect evening. And due to Covid-19, my gift still hasn't shipped. Ha. I joked with Rory that it will come in time for Father's Day.
THREE. During quarantine, we have been watching a lot of tv (but also reading a ton) and we just got into Schitt's Creek. I had watched the first season when it came out, but never watched any other ones. Well, I got Rory to watch the first season with me again and we are hooked. We are in season 2 and it is just so funny. I love how lighthearted it is as we have been watching more heavy tv and it is nice to watch something light before bed.
I am also watching Dead to Me season 2 and Working Moms season 4.
Another show that I recently started was The Baker and the Beauty. It is sooo cute. If you liked Jane the Virgin, then you will like this show. They both take place in Miami and even have some of the same sets.
FOUR. Monday I posted a Cucumber Watermelon Refresher drink and it has been on repeat at our house. Sometimes with vodka and sometimes without. If you haven't tried it, you definitely should. Plus watermelon has been really good at our stores right now.
FIVE. Weekly funnies.
You and the girls look so beautiful. Loved your cocktail recipe!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteYum, that coconut shrimp sounds delicious. We've been doing a lot of cooking and baking over here too. I told everyone I was on a 7-day sugar-free diet this week because we've had way too many ice cream and cake nights lol. We usually go out for Mother's Day too but this year I invited everyone over for brunch. We cooked homeamde cinnamon rolls with eggs and bacon. Schitt's Creek is so funny. Moira and all those wigs too! I didn't know season 2 of Dead to Me was out. Looking forward to catching up. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteKaitlyn @ Oh, the Places We’ll Go!
Oh yes. We have definitely had a lot more ice cream over here. Oh, I love the breakfast you had for Mother's Day. I love Moira and her wigs too. She and David are my favorites so far. I am half way through Dead to Me. It isn't as good as the first season, but I am still enjoying it. Have a great weekend!
DeleteGlad you had a good Mother's Day! I need to watch season 2 of Dead to Me. I'm watching Jane the Virgin now!
ReplyDeleteI loved Jane the Virgin so much. It was such a light show. I hope you have a great weekend!
DeleteYES... I was thinking about how my motivation just wasn't there this week and I was getting a little frustrated. Glad I wasn't alone. Schitt's Creek, OMGosh, we LOVED that show! I know the next season just came out, but we will have to wait for it to come to Netflix until we can watch. You looked gorgeous on the Mother's Day! Have a great weekend, friend.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why there is only 5 seasons on Netflix, but 6 are out. What station is it on? I love that show so much. And you are beyond sweet. I felt more like myself on Mother's Day. Dressed up, make up on and living a sort of normal life. Ha. Have a great weekend too!
DeleteI need to try watching Schitt's Creek again because so many people love it. B and I watched the first two episodes last year sometime and weren't really impressed, but everyone has been telling us to try again!
ReplyDeleteI think you need to push through a bit. They are 22 minute episodes so it is easy to get through 3. We were hooked quickly.
DeleteYour food and drinks look so good. Have a great Friday.
ReplyDeleteThey were pretty tasty! Have a great weekend!
DeleteOmg those memes haha oh, and I hear you on SLOW shipping. Girl. Everything is delayed. My Fabletics order hasn't shipped 3 weeks later! But I can't WAIT till Schitt's Creek next week!
ReplyDeleteYep. Everything is soooo slow. I love Schitt's Creek. It is just so dang good.
DeleteGood to know the Baker & the Beauty is cute - I have it saved to watch when a few more episodes come out
ReplyDeleteI've started watching the Baker and the Beauty too and it's cute. "They" are saying things should start opening up here for phase one in another week and a half or so but I'm still confused on how they can cut my hair while I'm wearing my mask and we're planning on sticking to curbside pick-up since they are only opening outdoor seating at our restaurants and it's just not that warm out yet.
ReplyDeleteThose memes are hilarious! I am still laughing at the COVID one and hallmark. 🤣 Every woman I know would watch it. I can’t wait for a hair appointment! Our salons won’t open until the 25th. Eek! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat coconut lime shrimp sounds amazing, going to check it out! That watermelon drink still needs to happen over here too. I finally got 2 of my mothers day presents yesterday. Chris said I still have one more box that hasn't delivered. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLOL at the roomba meme! And I agree about watching light-hearted TV right now - it's necessary! Glad you enjoyed your Mother's Day and hope your gift arrives soon. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fun mother's day! We had some restrictions lifted just in time for Mother's day to allow us to visit our families which is nice! The restaurants are open here but I think we will stick with takeaway for a while! We were never big eat out people before the virus anyway! :)
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a nice weekend :)
Away From Blue
I want to try that watermelon refresher - looks so good! I don't know how I will feel about dining out in restaurants but we have ordered in a few times! xo, Biana BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteLOVE that meme about a Hallmark movie COVID Christmas, we shouldn't laugh because they're probably already writing the script! We have slowly began opening back up here as well, and I have my first massage booked for tomorrow to treat chronic pain in my neck and back. I'm a little nervous, but am trusting their over the top cleaning methods. Next up will be a pedicure <3

That shrimp looks so amazing. I love shrimp! I wish my husband did because I'd have it so much more! It sounds like you had an amazing non-traditional Mother's Day... and with great weather! Cheers!
