Weekending

Wow, it feels like a long time since I wrote a post (last weeks were all scheduled). But it feels good to dust off the blog and do a weekend recap. I didn't take too many photos, but we did have a pretty good weekend other than the no sleep. I will get to that in a bit.

Friday, I finished up some classes for my conference down in LA and headed to the airport around 1 pm. I managed to get on an earlier flight that was to get me into Reno just before the girls were to go down to bed. I had been waiting all day to see them....receiving photos from daycare and videos from Rory only to find out they were so tired that they fell asleep just before my plane landed at 6:40. I was super bummed.

After getting my luggage, I headed home to unpack and then headed back out for some take out. One thing I will say about my trip was that Disneyland (my hotel was the Disneyland Hotel) is soooo expensive. I didn't find anything to eat under $20 except Starbucks (which I had twice a day, ouch) and Pretzel Weitzel. I spent way over my per diem on the trip.

We just relaxed that evening. I thought I would get some goodnight's rest since the girls slept so well that week I was gone, but I was wrong. We were up every hour soothing the girls. Not sure if it is teething, missing me (and hearing me), being too hot or what. But sleep was lacking this weekend.

Saturday morning we went out to breakfast to our favorite spot, Two Chicks. After breakfast, we headed to Coscto to pick up a couple things and ended up spending $200. Isn't that how it always is? After Coscto, we took Walter and the girls on a walk. After our walk, everyone was tired. We fed the girls lunch and they went down for a nap. During their nap, I headed to Total Wine and Whole Foods for some grocery shopping.

We spent the day playing inside since it was so hot outside and I had the best time catching up with my girls. I chased them around playing their favorite game of mommy is going to get you. The laughter that ensued was the best. I really missed my lady babies on my trip.

I made the girls dinner and started our dinner of spaghetti. After we put the girls down to bed, I finished dinner, we ate and watched some track and field (Olympics).

Sunday, we got up and Rory got us coffee and muffins while I got the girls changed and ready. We played around the house for most of the morning and then got ready to head back to Coscto to return something, go to a furniture store and head to the mall. I needed new running shoes so badly. Mine are over two years old and last week while in LA, they caused major hip and shin pain while running. I knew it was time and I got myself a new fancy pair of running shoes. I can't wait to use them today.

We also got the girls some new shoes too. Always have to get the girls something! I also looked around for black rider boots since mine have a hole in the bottom. The search is still on. I hope to have a new pair by the time I head to Europe in September. So send suggestions if you have any.

After shopping, we grabbed a quick lunch and headed home for naps. While the girls napped, we took a short nap ourselves and then did some yardwork. I also had to run to our local grocery store for a few items they didn't have at Whole Foods.

After naps, snacks, playtime and dinner (for the girls), we went for a long family walk to cap off our day. It was pretty hot outside, but the girls loved it. They were playing in their wagon and giggling the whole time.

Once we got back, close to 7 pm, we gave the girls baths, let them play for a bit while we got their bottles ready and then put them to bed. Once the girls were asleep, we barbecued some tri-tip and asparagus. We capped our night off with The Night Of (soooo good) and tried to get some rest before the girls woke us up one hundred times.

And so that ends our weekend. How was your weekend?

Today I am linking up with Biana.

  13. Anything Disney is so expensive. I’ve never been to Disneyland, but we spent a ton of money on food whenever we ate out during our Disney World vacation last November. One breakfast cost nearly $300 for 6 adults! I about died when I saw the bill that morning! Your girls are so, so cute. That picture of them with Rory is just the cutest! We've been addicted to The Night Of ever since you first posted about it - it is seriously SO good (although I've had enough of the feet already...).
